Assortment Intelligence · Sample Shelf

Where are the gaps in this shelf?

The recommender sells more of what you already carry. This is the buyer's tool: it places a whole catalog in flavor space and shows the three things a merchant decides on — the territory you don't cover, the products that cannibalize each other, and whether a SKU you're weighing fills a gap or duplicates the shelf.

A flavor lens on buying — not the whole decision. It doesn't weigh margin, price, brand, or supplier terms. It makes the flavor-assortment input your buyer already does by feel rigorous and visible, so it can sit next to the rest.

Placing the catalog in flavor space…

How it reads
Coverage is the share of the catalog's aromatic mass in each of ten consumer flavor families, summed from the per-ingredient family tags on /ingredient — a catalog-level read, not a label on any single product. Cannibalization and the new-SKU check use one number: the average best-match compound overlap (Jaccard) between two products' ingredients, the same headline figure you can verify on /compare. High overlap across categories is cross-sell; within a category it's redundancy. Ingredient-level only; a finished product would need GC-MS to profile exactly.
