  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/3 cup Walnuts
  • 1/2 cup Finely shredded coconut

1 Beat shortening till soft.

2 Add sugar & cream till fluffy.

3 Add water & mix.

4 Add the rest of the ingredients in order, mixing well after each addition.

5 Finish with the nuts & coconut.

6 Form into rolls, wrap in waxed paper & chill for several hours in the fridge.

7 Slice into rounds an 1/8 inch thick.

8 Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 10 minutes at 375°F.

9 Remove to a wire rack to cool.
