Compound Kitchen (compkitchen.com) provides flavor pairing tools and recipe browsing for informational and educational purposes. The tools are free to use. You may use the site for personal, non-commercial purposes without restriction.

No Guarantees

Flavor pairing scores, nutritional estimates, and recipe suggestions are generated algorithmically from publicly available food science databases. They are provided as-is for exploration and inspiration. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any pairing recommendation or nutritional estimate. Always use your own judgment when cooking, especially regarding food allergies and dietary restrictions.

Recipe Content

Recipes displayed on this site are sourced from a curated, commercially-licensed corpus combining: OpenRecipes (fictive-kin, licensed CC BY 3.0), the Fandom Recipes Wiki (licensed CC BY-SA 4.0), and public-domain cookbook scans from Project Gutenberg and the Internet Archive (expired copyright). Original recipe authors and sources are credited where attribution data is available. If you believe a recipe infringes your copyright, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly remove it.

Data Sources

Compound and ingredient data is derived from peer-reviewed food science databases including FlavorDB, FooDB, PubChem, Flavornet, the Volatile Compounds in Food database, and published GC-MS literature. We do not claim ownership of the underlying scientific data.

Third-party data is used under its respective open licenses (Creative Commons, ODbL, public domain, etc.) with attribution preserved.

API Usage

The site's JSON API endpoints are available for personal and non-commercial use at no charge, at 120 requests per minute. Automated scraping or bulk data extraction is not permitted without prior written consent.

A Pro subscription covers the compkitchen.com website, not programmatic access. Signed-in browsing runs at 300 requests per minute. An API key — for calling the JSON endpoints from your own code — is issued on the developer and enterprise plans, at 600 requests per minute and a monthly call allowance agreed with you. If you hold a Pro subscription and need an API key, email us and we will sort it out.

On any plan, “own use” means you, or people inside your organisation, using the results in your own work. It does not include redistributing results, reselling them, or embedding them in a product, platform or service you make available to others — those need the commercial licence below, whatever your tier. Quotas are enforced; if you are approaching them, talk to us before you hit them.

Commercial & enterprise licensing is available. If you want to integrate flavor pairing data into a commercial product, platform, or internal tool, we offer API access with higher rate limits, batch endpoints, and a commercial license. See our API page or contact [email protected] for details.
