Ingredients

  • cucumbers (sliced, enough to fill 4 quart jars)
  • 1 slice onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 sprig of dill
  • 1 pint water
  • 1 quart vinegar
  • 2½ cups sugar
  • ½ cup salt
  • 1 tsp alum

Directions

Place onion slice, clove of garlic and dill in quart jar.

Boil water, vinegar, sugar, salt and alum

Slice cucumbers (the size of silver dollars) into sterilized jars.

Pour boiling liquid over pickles.

Add spray of dill on top of jar and seal.
