  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 tsp cornstarch dissolved in a little cold milk
  • 2 eggs

Cook pohas with little water until the juice comes well out. Strain through a cloth bag, and add equal measure of sugar. Cook until it jellies when dropped on a saucer and cooled.

Or serve syrup before it has jellied with plain ice cream.

Fill a pie crust with stewed pohas, and add 1 tbsp butter. Cover with upper crust and bake 30 minutes in hot oven.

Line a pie dish with paste, and bake. When done, put in a layer of poha jam, then a custard made of 1 ¢ milk, 1 tsp butter, 1 tsp cornstarch dissolved in a little cold milk, the yolks of 2 eggs, and vanilla flavoring. Spread the sweetened whipped egg whites on top, and brown slightly in hot oven. Serve cold.
