Ingredients

  • two cups of hard wood ashes in a bag
  • salt

Directions

Put in an iron kettle a quantity of shelled corn, with water enough to cover. Place two cups of hard wood ashes in a bag and boil with the corn until the hulls begin to start. Strain off the lye, remove the ash bag and boil in clear water. Strain off once again and boil until done. Salt to taste.
