Directions
Two cupfuls of raw oatmeal, 1 cupful of flour, y2 cupful of lard, y2 cupful of sugar, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1 tea- spoon of salt. Mix together the oatmeal, flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder; melt the lard and pour a beaten egg into it. Then add this to the dry ingredients, using cold water enough to make. the whole into a stiff paste. Roll the paste to about the thickness of a dollar and cut into small cakes, and bake in a moderate oven. A. B.
