Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread
  • two dozen oysters in egg
  • two dozen mushrooms
  • salt
  • pepper

Directions

1

Take 1 loaf of bread, crusted all round. Cut off top so that top may be used for cover. Scoop out the soft part of the loaf and put shell in oven to become hot. Dip about two dozen oysters in egg, then in cracker crumbs and fry brown. Salt and pepper to taste. Fry or broil two dozen mushrooms and fill hot loaf with oysters and mushrooms in layers. Cut over top olives or pickles in slices. Put cover on loaf and serve. Must be very hot. Mrs. David Macquarrie.
