- 2 ounces of dried hoarhound in \l/2 pints of water
- 2 pints of water

Boil 2 ounces of dried hoarhound in \l/2 pints of water for about l/2 hour ; strain and add Zy2 pounds brown sugar. Boil over a hot fire until it is sufficiently hard ; pour out in' flat well greased tin trays, mark into sticks or small squares.
