MARSHMALLOW CAKE— Cream half a cup of butter with a tablespoon of hot water and two cups of sugar, add one cup of cold water, two cups of flour with two teaspoons of baking powder, and last the whites of eight well beaten eggs.

WHITE NUT LOAF CAKE— One-half cup butter, one cup sugar, three-quarters cup milk, two cups flour, one teaspoon vanilla, two teaspoons baking powder, three-quarters cup of chopped nuts, whites of three eggs well beaten. Cream butter and sugar, add milk and flour alternately, sift powder with flour then flavor, then nuts, and last of all add whites of eggs. Bake in a loaf about forty minutes.
