SWEET SOUR PICKLES — Freshen pickles in cold water, drain, cover with boiling water, let stand five hours and drain again. Boil one quart cider vinegar, one cup sugar, one heaping tablespoon salt, one tea- spoon pickling spices in bag. Either heat pickles in brine and bottle boiling hot or pack pickles in jars and pour boiling vinegar over them and seal at once.
