Make a boiled lye of wood ashes, so strong as to be quite slippery between the fingers. Let it settle, and drain it off. Put a large handful of common salt to a quart of lye ; have it quite warm to begin with, submerging the afflicted part for one or two hours, one or two applications affording a permanent relie£
