Two cups of sugar, a half cup of water, six eggs, one and a half cups of flour and one teaspoon of baking powder. Separate the eggs and beat the yolks and sugar to a cream, then put in the water; mix the baking powder with the flour and stir in, a little at a time, until thoroughly mixed; beat the whites to a stifi" froth and mix as lightly as possible through the cake, just before placing it in the oven. The oven must not be too hot when the cake is first put in.
