Many persons clear starch their clothes. That is, after starch- ing and drying, they rinse quickly through cold water. This does not remove the stiffness of the starch, but makes them glossier and more pliable.

Mix with cold water; pour on boiling water till it thickens; then add two teaspoons of sugar and butter the size of a nut. This gives a good gloss.
