Ingredients
- twelve pounds of fruit into a jar
- two quarts water acidulated
- half pints of powdered sugar
- five ounces of tartaric acid

Put twelve pounds of fruit into a jar, and cover with two quarts water acidulated with five ounces of tartaric acid ; let it stand forty-eight hours ; then strain, and to each pint of clear juice add one and a half pints of powdered sugar ; stir until dissolved ; bottle and cork tightly.
