- one pound of fruit allow three fourths pound of white sugar

Cut the peaches fine and mash to a pulp (they should be per- fectly ripe). To one pound of fruit allow three fourths pound of white sugar ; . stir in the sugar well and boil, skimming and stirring a good deal, to keep it from burning. — Mrs. Jones.
