Directions

One cup sugar, 2 tablespoons of butter, 1 cup chopped raisin, 1 tea- spoon each cloves and cinnamon, 1 cup sour milk, 1 teaspoon soda, 2 cups flour. Bake in loaf.

WHITE CAKE. Three-fourths cup butter, 2 cups sugar, 1 cup sweet milk, i/^ tea- spoonful vanilla, 3 cups Iglehart's Swandown cake flour, 3 rounding tea- spoons baking powder, whites of 8 eggs. Cream the butter and sugar until very light, then add the milk. Sift flour with baking powder three times and add alternately with whites of the eggs which have been beaten very stiff.
