Directions
Two cups brown sugar; i heaping tablespoonful lard; i tea- spoonful cinnamon; 2 cups water; 4 cups raisins; i teaspoonful cloves. Boil all together for three minutes and when cool, add the following: — i teaspoon soda (dissolved in hot water); 4 cups of flour; i teaspoonful baking powder; a pinch of salt. Bake in slow oven for one hour.
