Ingredients
- one pint boiling water
- a piece of borax as large as a walnut
- a tablespoonful of alcohol will prevent mould
- quarter pound

Quarter pound .of gum-arabic, one pint boiling water, and a piece of borax as large as a walnut. Put it into a large mouthed bottle when thoroughly mixed. Shake it occasion- ally for three or four days. After it is corked, if the weather is hot, a tablespoonful of alcohol will prevent mould.
