Ingredients
- one pound of burnt umber ground in oil
- one gallon of turpentine
- one pound of wax

One pound of burnt umber ground in oil ; mix this with boiled linseed oil, enough to color well without thickening the oil. Rub this mixture well into the wood with a woolen cloth, wiping with another cloth until the stain ceases to come off. Mix one gallon of turpentine with one pound of wax, shaved
