Directions

Cream two thirds of cup of butter, add grad- ually two cups of sugar, and beat well. Sift three cups of flour and two teaspoonfuls of baking powder, add this to the first mixture alternately with one cup of milk. Then add one teaspoonful vanilla and the whites of six eggs beaten stiff. Bake in layer tins.
