Ingredients
- two tablespoonfals of butter
- five min- utes
- salt
- pepper
Directions
One can of oysters, two tablespoonfals of butter; strain the liquor from tlie oysters, add to it the milk ; set it over the fire in a vessel ; set in a pot of boiling water; when it is near boiling add the butter, salt and pepper, then add the oysters and let them stew until they ruffle on the edge. This will be in about five min- utes. I like it best with a few crackers broken in it, just before taking it from the fire. Serve just as soon as done. The crowning excellence in oyster soup is to have it cooked just enough. — 3f?'S. EUzcibetli Major, Fayette^ Mo.
