Directions
One pound of sugar, one pound of Hour, one-half pound of butter, one-half cup of sweet cream, whites of ten eggs, one teaspoonful of baking powder, mixed well with the flour ; cream sugar and butter until very light, then pour in the cream, add the flour and eggs. Bake in layers.
Filling. — Make boiled icing of one pound of sugar and the whites of two eggs ; into this squeeze the juice of two oranges and one lemon, using the grated rind of one orange and one-half of the lemon ; then stir in pul- verized sugar until thick enough to spread nicely. — Mrs. R.
