Ingredients
- a pint of sugar
- a tablespoonful of good whiskey

Take elderberries when ripe, pick off the stems and press the juice from them ; put on the fire and boil as you would for jelly ; when done, strain the juice from the berries, and to each pint of juice, add a pint of sugar. Boil down to a rich syrup ; when cool, add a tablespoonful of good whiskey or brandy. Dose, a teaspoonful every two or three hours.— J/r.9. Avne Shafroth.
