Ingredients

  • one cup chopped meat
  • 2 cups chopped apple
  • one-third cup of molasses
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of meat liquor
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 3 teaspoons of rosewater
  • 1 cup of boiling sweet cider
  • 1 cup of chopped suet also adds to the mixture
  • a teaspoon of mace
  • 1 lemon

Directions

One cup chopped meat; 2 cups chopped apple; iy2 cups of raisins; 1% cups of currants; l^/^ cupsof brown sugar; one-third cup of molasses or 1 cup of granulated sugar; 1 cup of meat liquor; 2 teaspoons of salt and cinnamon ; half a teaspoon of mace ; half a teaspoon powdered cloves ; 1 lemon, grated rind and Juice ; piece of citron ; 3 teaspoons of rosewater (if desired) . Mix in order given. Use enough meat liquor (meat from lower part of round with little fat) to make quite moist. Cook until apples and raisins are soft. Then add 1 cup of boiling sweet cider; 1 cup of chopped suet also adds to the mixture.
