Cut some bread in thin slices, and toast nicely on each side ; take one quart of sweet milk, and a half
teaspoon of salt; place in a vessel and let it come to a boil ; then add a large tablespoon of flour dissolved in some milk, and one tablespoon butter ; dip the toast in this until it is saturated ; place in a dish, and pour over it the remaining gravy.

Two eggs, three teacups of milk, three and a half teacups flour, one tablespoon melted butter, two table- spoons maple sugar, little salt ; mix all together ex- cept the last cup of milk, which add last of all. Do not beat the eggs separately.
