Take a 2 pound piece of cod or halibut, wash and skin it, and put in a baking dish. Pour over it 1^^ cups milk, and a dessertspoon butter in bits ; dust with salt and pepper. Bake in a hot oven 45 minutes, basting with the milk. Take the fish up on a hot dish, pour the milk into a saucepan, moisten 1 tablespoon

flour with cold milk, stir into the hot milk smoothly till it boils; add salt and pepper and 1 teaspoon butter, and pour over the fish. Garnish with slices of hard boiled eggs.
