Directions

Take 1 pound sugar and } pint water and boil until it strings from a spoon. Pour the syrup slowly over the stiffly beaten whites of 4 eggs, and beat until cold. Flavor with lemon juice, rose water or vanilla extract, and apply with a wet knife.
