2 quarts beef stock. 1 bay leaf. Salt. 3 large onions.

Pepper. Grated Parmesan cheese.

Remove grease from stock, add seasoning and bay leaf. Fry onion a light brown in butter. Before taking from skillet sprinkle well with cheese, then add onions to boiling stock. Serve with dry toast sprinkled with plenty of onion and cheese.
