Boil sweet potatoes, cake off the skin and slice lengthwise ; put in a baking dish a layer of potatoes, then sprinkle sugar over them and a little butter, then another layer, and so on until the dish is filled , add a little water, put in the oven and bake a light brown. This is very good and a nice way to use cold sweet potatoes.

Butter the sides of a deep dish, cover the bottom with thin slices of cheese, put upon this very thin slices of bread, well buttered, a little red pepper and mustard, another layer of cheese, and just be • fore putting in the oven, beat the yolk of an egg in a cup of cream . and pour into the dish.
