Directions
1 qt. water, (a little more than tepid), 2 qts. entire wheat Hour, 4 tablespoons New Orleans molasses. 8 tablespoons sugar, 1 even tea- spoon soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, butter size of an egg, 1 compressed yeast cake ; stir well the water, molasses, butter, salt, sugar and soda, and 1 qt. of the flour; then add yeast cake, previously dissolved in a little water ; add the rest of the flour ; stir until it drops from the spoon; let stand over night. In the morning stir down and ])n1 in tins; let it rise and then bake li/4 hcmrs.
