2 cups sifted flour; 2 tablespoons butter.

Boil milk with butter. Add flour and sugar and stir until smooth. Remove from stove, cool, and add, one by one, yolks of eggs, beating steadily. Whip whites very stifif, then stir in. Butter and sugar a mould holding lj4 quarts. Put a layer of batter in mould, then a layer of finely-sliced canned or stewed pineapple, and so on. Boil on top of stove for 3 hours, or bake in oven in pan of water from 1 to 1^ hours. Serve with fruit sauce.
