Ingredients

  • 1 cupful sugar
  • 4 tablespoonfuls sugar
  • a quart of milk
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • 2 eggs beaten stiff

Directions

Take thin slices of bakers' bread, butter them well and place in deep pudding dish with alternate layers of raisins, seeded. When the dish is nearly full turn over all a quart of milk with 3 eggs beaten and 1 cupful sugar. Let stand over night. In the morn- ing place dish in steamer and cook 4 or 5 hours. When done spread jelly over the top and frost with- whites of 2 eggs beaten stiff and 4 tablespoonfuls sugar; set in oven to brown. A ver3^ little cinnamon and nutmeg should be sprinkled between each layer. Serve with whipped cream sweetened and flavored with vanilla. Mrs. C. H. Stearns.
