Cut onions in slices, pare and cut carrot into thin slices, put into a saucepan ; add kidney, water, and spices ; cook very slowly ; never boil hard ; blend cornflour in a little water ; add sauce; and salt and pepper ; stir in and let soup boil some minutes, stirring all the time.
