Make a good suet crust, line in a greased bowl, peel suffi- cient apples to fill it ; slice them, adding a few cloves and sugar to taste ; cover with the remainder of the suet crust, cut round to fit bowl, wet the edges with cold water, and pinch the sides to it all round, cover with buttered paper, and steam 2 to 2£ hours according to size.
