Directions
Half pint milk, 5 eggs, 1/2 cupful of sugar, 1 gill of cream, common butter. Beat the milk, cream, sugar, and eggs together; strain, put into a small bowl, set in saucepan with boiling water to reach half way up the sides of the bowl; steam very gently until set--about 20 minutes--place on the ice until cold; cut into pieces 1-1/2 inches long by 1 square; dip into common batter, and fry in plenty of hot lard, a deep fawn color. Serve sprinkled with sugar.
