1440. _Blue._--Dilute Saxon blue with water; or to the solution of litmus add distilled vinegar.

1441. _Green._--Dissolve verdigris in distilled water and add gum arabic.

1442. Or, dissolve sap-green in water and add gum.

1443. _Red._--Steep Brazil dust in vinegar, with alum. Or, dissolve litmus in water and add spirit of wine.

1444. Or, steep cochineal in water, strain, and add gum.

1445. _Yellow._--Dissolve gamboge in water; or French berries steeped in water the liquor strained, and gum arabic added.
