Ingredients

  • 1 peck sweet apples
  • 3 pounds sugar
  • 2 quarts vinegar
  • ½ ounce cinnamon
  • ½ ounce cloves

Directions

Pare the apples, leaving them whole.

Boil the apples in part of the vinegar and sugar until a fork can easily pierce them.

Remove the apples from the pot.

Mix the remaining vinegar and sugar, then pour it over the apples.

Be careful not to boil the apples too long, or they will break.
