Ingredients
- 1 pint hot water
- 3 ounces grated Gruyere cheese
- 3 ounces butter
- pepper to taste
- coarse sea salt to taste
- flour (enough to make a stiff paste)
- 4 eggs

In a saucepan, combine hot water, Gruyere cheese, butter, pepper, and salt.

Boil until the cheese dissolves.

Add flour gradually to form a stiff paste that doesn't stick to your fingers.

Remove from heat and work in the eggs one at a time.

Let the mixture cool, then form into balls slightly larger than walnuts.

Place on a baking sheet and bake in a 400°F (200°C) oven until light brown.
