Chop a pint of sour apples, grate a pint of bread crumbs, put a layer of apples in a pudding dish, sprinkle with sugar and a little cinnamon, then add a layer of bread crumbs and small pieces of butter; proceed with apples and bread until all are used; bake one hour. Serve with sauce, or cold with cream. Any fresh or canned fruit can be used instead of the apples.
