Directions
One cup boiling water, 1 tablespoonful cornstarch, % cup of butter, 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 egg, 1 saltspoon grated nut- meg, y2 cup wine. Wet the cornstarch in cold water and stir into the boiling water. Boil 10 minutes. Rub the butter to a cream, add the sugar gradually, then the egg, well-beaten, and nutmeg. When the cornstarch has cooked 10 minutes. add the wine and pour the whole into the butter, sugar and egg, stir- ring until well mixed. Half a cup of jelly melted in % of a cup of boiling water and poured into a butter and sugar mixture makes a pleasing variety.
