One cup of yeast, one cup of sweet milk, one cup of lard, one cup of sugar, one egg and flour enough to make a stiff batter. Mix these at night and in the morning add two cups of sugar, two eggs, one cup of butter, one teaspoon of mace, one table- spoon of cinnamon, flour enough to make it as stiff as other cake, raisins and currants. This makes three good sized cakes. Let it rise in the pans an hour or more; bake in a moderate oven and ice when done.
