Soak a cupful of tapioca (after washing it through several waters) in warm water three or four hours ; then pour over three pintR of sweet milk, yellows of six eggs well beaten with one

and one half cupfuls of sugar, one half tea-spoonful of salt, one half tea-spoonful of nutmeg; place ingredients in a pan and set it in another pan of boilhig water on the stove, and let it cook as thick as custard ; then put it in the stove with something under it, to keep from scorching at the bottom ; let remain until it dries on top ; in the meanwhile, have a meringue made of the six whites and flavored to taste, pour on top and smooth over nicely.
