Directions
One pound flour, one pound sugar, three fourths of a pound of butter, six eggs, one table-spoonful powdered cinnamon, one of allspice, one of cloves, one wine-glass of brandy. Beat the butter and sugar together, add eggs and flour gradually, the brandy and spice alternately, and just before putting it into the stove dissolve a tea-spoonful of soda in a small tea-cupful of sour cream.
