Plow as early in the spring as the season will permit with three horses abreast, seven or eight inches deep ; harrow and roll until the ground is thoroughly pulverized ; plant from the first to the fifteenth of May, with Dickey drill, three or four inches deep in rows three and one-half feet apart. As soon as the corn begins coming up, harrow again with a light harrow thoroughly, giving no attention to rows. When the plants are about three or four inches high, plow with a walking or double-shovel plow, with shovels about two inches wide.
