Directions
Into a deep buttered pie tin, slice tart apples and cover with sugar (about % cup) ; sprinkle with cinnamon and dot with buttter as for pie ; cover with a batter made as follows : Into 1 14 cups flour, mix a heaping teaspoon of butter, a pinch of salt and IV2 leaspoons of baking powder; add gradually % cups of milk; bake thirty min- utes or until the apples are tender; serve hot with sugar and cream. A beaten egg added last to the batter improves it.
