Directions
Boil a pint of water in a saucepan ; when boiling, mix with it two tablespoonfuls of oatmeal, half a pint of milk, and a little salt. Let it then simmer for half an hour; strain it through a hair-sieve, sweeten, and add a little nutmeg. A few raisins may be added before
boiling. TOAST WATER.
Cut a slice of stale bread half an inch thick, and toast it brow 1, without scorching. Pour over it a pint of boiling water ; cover closely till it cools; then pour off and strain it
