Ingredients

  • 6 yams
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbs. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup water

Directions

1.Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C).

2.Boil yams in skins until about half done.

3.Drain water from yams, remove skins, and cut in cubes.

4.Place cubes in a greased baking dish and dot with margarine.

5.Make a syrup by boiling brown sugar, water, and vanilla together. Pour over the yams.

6.Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, basting frequently with syrup. Cook until yams are tender.
