Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp chopped onion
  • Fatty pork
  • 1 quart mashed potatoes
  • 1 ½ pounds sea biscuit, broken
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp summer savory
  • ½ bottle mushroom catsup
  • 1 bottle port or claret
  • ¼ nutmeg pod, grated

  • 6 pounds sea bass or cod , cut into slices
  • 25 oysters
  • Black pepper
  • A few slices lemon

Directions

Fry the onion with the fatty pork. Transfer to a large pot.

Add all remaining ingredients to pot.

Add enough water to cover everything by 1 inch .

Bring to a boil . Simmer for 1 hour, stirring gently every so often.
