MARBLE CAKE — Whites of four eggs, one cup of sugar, half a cup of butter, half a cup of sweet milk, two teaspoons baking pow- der, one teaspoon vanilla and two and a half cups of sifted flour. Dark part : Yolks of four eggs, one cup of brown sugar, half cup of molasses, half a cup of butter, half a cup of sour milk, one teaspoon of cloves, one teaspoon cinnamon, one teaspoon of mace, one nutmeg grated, one teaspoon of soda, and one and a half cups of flour. Drop into a buttered pan a spoonful of batter, first the light and then the dark alternately, so it has the appearance of marble.
